DTM & Teams
IS THERE A DTM IN YOUR FUTURE?
Cheri Redgrave asked the question: Is there a DTM in your future? DTM stands for Distinguished Toastmaster Award, and is a highly prized achievement. It requires speaking in front of the club, holding an officer’s position for a year, holding a higher office outside of the club (such as Area or Division Director), becoming a club coach or mentor, and sponsoring a new club or holding leadership training. Only 3 percent of all Toastmasters achieve DTM ranking.
RETROSPECTIVE VIEW OF MY TEAM COLLABORATION
Raj Gopalakrishnan is an IT specialist at Les Schaub in Bend, Oregon. Because of his toastmaster’s training, he is aware of communication styles and has great listening skills. Unfortunately, his co-workers do not share these abilities. He is learning how to best speak with his team members so that they will listen and respond. But it’s been a journey for Raj, and he is encouraging his fellow workers to visit our club.
